Nice work! I enjoy seeing nice wood on a blued rifle. Also nice to have a unique piece. I like the rifle with the faux walnut....nice job.
Some years ago, I wanted to see if I could re-stock a rifle, in this case a Winchester Low Wall. It started out as a .22 short Winder Musket which had been reblued and drilled for scope blocks. Of course, this pretty well ruined the collector value. It has now been relined and chambered for .22 mag and has a single set trigger. The wood started out as a full length uncut blank and (very) slowly took the shape you see here. I started to put a Schutzen style butt plate on it, but went with the rubber pad instead. It will put 5 shots in about 1/2" at 100 yds on a good day! The finish is oil with lots of coats carefully hand rubbed into the wood.
