Please someone help me. I was sitting in my 1982 911SC the other day reading the paper with the key in the "on" position instead of "accessory" (wasn't paying attention). The car refused to start after that and hasn't started since, although it will crank.
The Haynes manual said the problem was the CDI if I didn't hear any whistling from the CDI (no whistling). So I took Mr Dempsy's advise and upgraded to an MSD 6AL and Bosch blue coil. I verified the MSD wiring and that the MSD was receiving 12 volts from the key switch. I also snipped the red wire to make the rev limiter work on 6 cylinders.
The engine still will not fire (verified by looking at the plug while cranking).
Could there be something else that I should be looking at? I'm pretty much at the end of my ideas. Could the distributor be bad?
Someone please help this desperate enthusiast!
Thanks!
