With jet lag you have to be extra diligent. 12 hours to Prague with a plane change in Germany and it's easy to miss something. If I'd actually lost my wallet for good, I'm not even sure who I'd call to cancel the CC's. I think I'll PDF them front and back and email them to myself and keep in a locked portion of my phone and computer, with a backup at home with the wifey. I do that with my Passport.
had my wallet stolen (was in g/f's purse and she left it on a slot machine) in Vegas, but luckily they didn't charge anything on the cc's yet. I was able to cancel (or put them on hold, rather, in case they show up in the next day or two) all of mine either online, or was able to get their phone number from their website to call to cancel. Hardest one was trying to cancel the g/f's debit card from Chase, as their phone lines aren't manned 24/7 and they don't give you an option to report it stolen. Pretty much called all their numbers (regardless of which section they belonged to, e.g. investments, commercial banking, etc) and finally got a person on the other end to cancel the card.
