BAH!
Get yerself a little bottle of liquid smoke. it'll last 5 lifetimes.
Take a few drops (at the most) and dilute it with cooking oil and paint it on the meat prior to cooking on your gas stove, you won't be able to tell if it was cooked with charcoal or not.
