In the scheme of things, especially in LA, you see $200K cars used as daily beaters. If this were a new Bentley being used as intended, it wouldn't raise an eyebrow. After a couple years of daily use, it would be sold for 40% of the original purchase price and the owner wouldn't bat an eyelash.
Think about it for a second then. Is the value of the Speedster going down? No, it will likely rise. It has a fresh restoration that cost a LOT of money. But if it gets scratched, chipped, or dinged, can't it be redone? And will the cost of re-doing it again someday be less than the depreciation of the Bentley?
A friend/acquaintance vintage races a multi-million dollar Ferrari. He drives HARD. The Ferrari purists think it's blasphemy. In an interview he was asked why he would risk it. He said, "I could never do enough damage that it wouldn't be worth fixing." He thinks it's blasphemy NOT to drive it hard as "that's what Enzo intended."
