From what I have seen browsing ads since August, The ads for cars 25k+ stick around for a long time. If you are not motivated to sell, by all means wait for the buyer who is looking for your exact car and try to negotiate at a higher price. The 18-22k cars seem to sell in a reasonable time frame.
Frustratingly though, I think that dealers asking exorbitant amounts for mediocre cars inflate asking prices from private sellers.
