Not only do they not have an affordable boxer sport bike... the HP2-Sport loses the affordable part.

They don't have a boxer sport touring bike, either.

If it ain't an RT, GS, or 'Roadster', or built-with-unobtainium HP2-Sport that is too expensive... there is a giant hole in their boxer lineup.

Not to mention that IIRC, they aren't selling the K1300R in the US anymore, and the K1200R-Sport hasn't been revived. R1200S and ST were both cancelled...

It doesn't seem like BMW wants to build a mid-range bike that is both sporty and realistic.

It would be so easy, and make so much sense to make an R1200RS DOHC, or even an R1250RS with the revised HP2-S mill that was mentioned by Shreddr.

But that is likely why they won't build it. It makes too much sense to replicate the R11RS and R11S type practical sporty bikes with newer-than-R1200S specs, and the new DOHC engine tuned to it's potential.

But hey... BMW is talking about making FWD cars... not Minis... FWD BMWs... and they build insane things like the X6-M that is the worst of both worlds between a performance car and a CUV. And they build the 1 series that is not easy to look at, and very nearly as expensive and heavy as a 3-series, while being not as accommodating to sit in.

So close, yet so far away. The pieces and potential is there... yet goes unrealized, while other puzzling things get built.
