Yep, it's a 965 smile.
The factory RSR's and 3.0 RS didn't come with a smile, just some welt between the fenders and the bumper as pictured below on a real 3.0 RS. IMO on a street RSR conversion the 965 smile gives the car a more "finished" look but perhaps not quite as racy-looking.
I would think the regular narrow body smile would work on a '74-89 impact bumper car with stock fenders and a RSR style bumper...but I don't recall seeing one, so that is a good question. Anybody done that?
