Maybe 5 to 10 years ago but the plastics community is a buzz with all this. Some are platisizing with vegetable oils while others are making polymers with more soft linkages. There is a ton of work going on in this field. No one wants to have the label "May Increase Your Chances of Sterility or Cancer" on their products. I wouldn't want to be a DOP salesman!
Still, I do agree with you - I would rather heat something up in glass.
