I stopped by the Dick's Sporting Goods on my lunch break, and they didn't have any 590's, but they had a 500 and a Remmy 870 Express Tactical.
The 500 action was rather loose and rattlely. Is that normal for a 500 or 590? Obviously I don't know much about shot spoons.
The 870 action was more solid compared to the 500.

all actions are stiff at birth. 200 rds of ammo thru it and its broken in.
while yer bored to death after ya make the purchase of whatever model, sit at home watching cartoons, and rack the action(obviously with mag tube empty) about 62,000 times and wipe the action bars down with CLP. it will get so easy you'll poo yerself. yes SIXTY TWO THOUSAND TIMES!
trust me...................it works the same with lever actions.
buy federal LE OO buck and slugs and yer castle/campsite will be very very SAFE!
now thru my combat wombat experience, i would buy the mossy 590 w/bayonet lug. why? because the M-9 LAN-CAY USGI issue BAYONET fits on it!
and there is nothing more intimidating than oneself standing in yer yard with a snotgun w/a bayonet! great for crowd control!
