Yep, the 590A1 has a heavy barrel, metal trigger guard and safety. It's maybe $20 more than the regular 590, so it's a no brainer to get the metal trigger guard and safety. Iffy on the barrel, but what the heck....if I need to beat in the head of a zombie...it'll be better
Just gonna have to go find a store that has both and see which ones my hands like better. I was hoping someone would say "hell yeah..go 590A1, the 870's are crap nowadays" so the decision would be easy
