I just heard that the burn has been rescheduled for thurs. @ 9:00 AM; weather more favorable then. The neighborhood has been zoned into red and yellow areas.
Those in the red have to evacuate, those in the yellow are told to stay inside with windows closed. I 15's going to be shut down and traffic rerouted - that'll be a royal pain. Supposedly, the evacuees will be able to return to their homes late afternoon.
I know a guy who plays senior citizen volunteer sheriff in the San Marcos area adjacent to the unincorporated area of Escondido where the house is. He and 40 or so more sheriff's volunteers are being placed to help with traffic control. He'll be there from 4:00 to 11:00 AM. We'll probably see more on TV than he will.
He said the authorities went into the house and bomber boy was apparently a hoarder. Could barely navigate through the place and decided it was too dangerous to remove much from the house, so didn't, decided to torch it instead. Then again, Hugh may have better info, dunno.
They got onto this guy after his gardner stepped on something in the back yard and it blew up, putting him in the hospital.
I'm wondering if anyone's been documenting this on video tape, interviewing neighbors, etc. Seems it'd make for a very watchable documentary.
They busted another bomb maker in Escondido also. The guy was making pipe bombs.
An old gf of mine lives in San Marcos, not far away and says it's a pretty decent neighborhood...except for the occassional bomb maker I guess.
