1970 IMO. They all went down hill after that.
IMO it was the best looking, it was the only year with a 12 bolt rear end, compression, horsepower and torque went successively down in 71, 72 and 73 and the improvements were minor. You could still get a 396 or even an LS6 454 with some 500 ft lbs of torque (although I'd take the Z28 350 thank you).
After 74? Yuck. Quality went downhill along with everything else.
