I wear pretty much anything, and it works great. I have pink, light blue, two shades of purple, and nice ties to go with all of them. People tell me I'm a classy well-dressed person all the time.

I actually read a piece in (IIRC) Men's Health on fashion a few years ago. It said that a lot of men wear pretty bland colors, and that it's more attractive to the female of the species if you wear colors. They recommended mostly darks with splashes of color, like a dark suit with a bright shirt, or a gray overcoat with a bright scarf. Of course, that was like 4 years ago, so I'm sure fashion has long since passed me by.
