As I recall with the clock, electricity is used to wind up the clock and then it runs for awhile and then is again rewound. The fact that it runs for a few hours after the car is off and then runs down makes me think that you no longer have constant power to the clock. Easy to find that out. Just pull the clock and check to see if the power wire to it is how when the ignition is turned off.
