I'm a country boy, so yes I do know. Burning isn't that bad... but the city types tend not to burn...they dump it straight into creeks, etc.
Tires here had a $5 disposal fee, not hard to figure out where many of them ended up. Our county gave up and you can now take them to the dump for free. At least they are not littering the ditches anymore.
