Unless Peter Fonda lied in his own biography - "Don't Tell Dad" - 1998
According to him ( page 278 ) all the bikes used in the Easy Rider film were stolen before the movie was even released. He assumes since the thief(s) had no idea about the film (and thus their real value) , they were probably dismantled/stripped and sold for parts.
