I treat Mg like it is an old cedar fence - do it 1x; do it again soon; then wait a while & repeat every year; then maybe every 2 years
Tectyl is not as pretty but much longer lasting; 3M has something new that is like Tectyl
Last, you could coat the Mg with an epoxy paint - but that is "cheating" isn't it?

Fortunately Mr. Webb, that is not true about the use of Gibbs on mag at all. I did my fan ( I think I was the original Gibbs user on board) about 7 years ago and it looks the same today with no retouches. Cellphone camera, so not sharp, but it has stayed uniform with no corrosion as is typical on magnesium.
