In fact, it takes a lot of money. A friend of mine just ordered a new Boxster S and it cost him an inordinate amount of money to have the Boxster S taken off the trunk as an option. Another interesting thing - Porsche will absolutely not sell you a car without the hood badge - they'll take everyting else off (Boxster, Carrera, etc.), but they won't take off the hood badge.

As for your problem, who knows what's happened to the script in the last 15 years. My 911SC had a Carrera script on it when I bought it - I guess one to the previous owners liked the look better than the 911SC. If it really bothers you, order a new script from Pelican - that's what I did.

P.S. I thought I heard or read somewhere that the installation of a tail covers up the holes for attaching the badge. So, if you install an aftermarket tail, you either have to relocate the badge or take it off completely. Can anybody back this up?
