I am a 944 owner living in the Boston area... my car is in Bristol, CT right now, but I may be able to help you out with repairs, etc...
If you want to drive all the way to Bristol, there is an excellent shop called Bristol Motor Works there that is both fair and inexpensive. I got quotes from other shops and compared them to Bristol Motor Works' prices, and they were almost double what Bristol Motor Works charges! It would be about an hour-and-a-half drive from Boston, but very possibly worth it depending on what kind of work you're having done.
In the Boston area, there are a few options. First, there are the official Porsche dealerships in Allston, Somerville, and W Roxbury. There are also Mercedes dealerships in Whealon (SP?) and Natick that deal with Porsches...
...a more cost-effective route might be a place called Boston Sports Car, located (confusingly) in Weston. It specializes in Lambourghini, Ferrari, and Porsche, and some of the cars I've seen there are absolutely amazing. The prices there are certainly more than at Bristol Motor Works, but undoubtedly less than a dealership.
Where are you from, BTW? I am a Northeastern student, and am always looking for someone to talk Porsches with. IM me at FuscoPorsche 944 if you want.
