Some people have mounted their coil pack on the firewall, but I don't like the idea of drilling there and see some nuts from passenger side. Further it's a double wall, what didn't makes it easier.

Others have it on the engine itself, what I dislike too in cause of heat and vibrations. So I fitted the coils where CDI was before:



As said before, I was thinking many hours where to fit the GM knock sensor. Because nothing suitable came into my mind I decided to switch to a Bosch sensor (0 261 231 006). To avoid noise from valve train, chain etc. I dropped the solution to mount at the heads, for example using the 993 bridge (no easy way to make some threads there) I have heard good results from fitting on crankcase and so I made a new for the throttle linkage bracket bolt (long word) and could easily fit the sensor there:
