Yep, whether it's the dialog or the challenges, it all seems pretty forced. The hosts don't really seem like car guys. They don't seem to have any passion about cars. Jeremy, Hamster and even Captain Slow all have their own passions, and it comes through. I totally buy the three of them sitting around in pubs discussing cars over a pint. The three guys in the US, just can't picture it.
In the UK version in the challenges and driving footage, there are times where you know that stuff is scripted even though it's not supposed to look like it, but it still comes off as a pretty good job of it. In the US version, it's much more transparent.
I will say that I was surprised at the "Star in a Cheap Car" with Kid Rock. Not that he's a rocket scientist, but he certainly wasn't what I was expecting. He seemed pretty down to earth, and his passion for classic cars was cool. I think he'd make a better host than the other three.
