The stock pump will work well with Webbers if you want to keep things looking stock. When the clutch cable needs frequent adjustments due to stretch it is most likely about to fail. A busted cable makes for an interesting drive home. (S*** another red light!) You can pull the cable out of the guide and inspect to see if the strands are starting to fray around the bends and at the fittings. Considring that they run about $10 it is worth replacing it rather than reinstalling it. Grease it up but good. let me know if you need to see anything asembled, I have a bunch of underside images.
