How much HP are you running?

If I was running stock, I would be more willing to run such light motor oil. But with the stresses that my 951 engine must be undergoing with all of the performance mods, I find it difficult to stray away from the heavy stuff.

I have been running with the cooler covered for 3 days now (mornings have been in the teens here). Chalk up yet another use for the infamous stuff they call duct tape! It does make "some" difference, but not as much as I had figured it would. Where the temp gauge pointer used to rarely ever rise beyond the upper edge of the fat white line at the bottom of the gauge, in this sort of weather, it now runs half way between that line and the next line (the first thin line) above it. It will push more heat than I need now, but it still takes pretty long to get up to get up to that point. I have a 100 watt stick-on heating pad style block cooker on the way, that will go onto the non-finned bottom-front part of the oil pan. It's somewhat weaker than I wanted. But for 20 bucks, it's worth a shot. If I'm still not happy, I'll go 5W-50 on the oil.
