Cars is not the main use of this meter but I do use it there (why it is so dirty, but it is 15 years old). These are the only test leads I ever recall using.
You can put a short piece of bare solid wire in the alligator clips to probe the backs of connectors. Somewhere I have alligator clips that go on the pin jack sized leads of the Fluke probes but I can't find them.
