you're welcome and thx too to GWN7 for the tip

edit...finding the tariff code info was a bit difficult, so i figured i'd post it here:

- the duty tariff code for cars is 8703 and the code for parts is 8708, both here:

http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/trade-commerce/tariff-tarif/2008/t2008-03/ch87-eng.pdf

- the exemption for cars over 25 years old (and parts for cars over 25 years old) is 9966.00.00 found here:

http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/trade-commerce/tariff-tarif/2008/t2008-01/ch99-eng.pdf

like GWN7 said, the code for a 3.0 litre porsche 911 is normally 8703.23.00.51 (less than 25 years old). when i imported mine, the customs officer not only missed the 25 year exemption, but also mis-classified it as 8703.21.90.00 (ie under 1.0 litre). i think i'll be double checking this stuff from here on....

(motorcycles and motorcycle parts are totally exempt from duty, regardless of age...8711 and 8714)
