The bullet in flight (ballistics) and the force generated before the bulle leaves the barrel (recoil).
Seems recoil is the topic currently questioned.
Simple F = m*a should explain recoil.
Weight of bullet and the accelerating force combine to produce recoil. So it's the weight o the bullet and the charge of the load one has to consider.
