I have been there. The rear pads are easyer to replace if you leave the caliper bolted to the hub, and remove the allen head slide bolts only. Did you un bolt the entire break/caliper assy. from the hub and slide it from the rotor in one peice without removing the caliper slide bolts (allen Head, under a plastic cap) and seperate the assy? If so, the pads don't have enough clearance like the front ones do. Hope this makes sense, hard to discribe.
