With the right parts it is pretty straightforward. My 1972 didn't have the U-tabs. Drilling the A-arms to install them was the most harrowing part of the installation. The inner fender was pre-stamped with the outline of the triangular reinforcement piece so locating where to drill was easy.
BTW, consider replacing the fuel lines while the tank is out. It's a task is otherwise a pain to do.
