This is a problem that most people in other parts of the country are not exposed to. This is a fight with the Fed's plain and simple. The State Fish Wildlife and Park were the ones that reported the Elk declines in the first place.

as many others have stated, wolves will take the old & sick (and some calves); they also introduce a "scare factor" into prey, which will then hug tight in cover
it is well established that w/o wolves, etc. elk will over-browse the vegetation
all the above makes hunting a bit more difficult sporting proposition
if you want to live in a big game farm, then your mileage may vary
you don't have too many of them
