but how many years ago? it isn't about the mileage with these belts as much as the years - they only last 3 years, regardless of mileage - failure to change them in that time frame frequently results in a very expensive repair
as for the whine, if it goes up and down with the revs, it's probably the balance belt being too tight
if it's a squeal, then it a belt that is too loose
