It might seem a little annoying at first, but it's really not all bad, it's just laid out horizontally instead of in a vertical drop down.

And you can hide the ribbon and use it like a menu if you really want to.

And 99% of the keyboard shortcuts still work anyhow.

It's worthwhile for not having compatibiliy issues, haven't to futz with the add on packs to read newer docs, being able to save to pdf and e-mail all with one button, etc. etc.

And actually, if I was to be against upgrading, I'd probably then switch to OpenOffice just since it's at least currently developed and has updates, etc.
