Sad. I never shot slide film myself, but still.
The good news is, Kodachrome and some other specific films aside, film photography is alive and well. There is enough of a market to support some small specialist companies. Film will never die, well not for generations at least. No more than canvas and oil paint died when photography took over the portrait and recording role, over a hundred years ago. It just became an "art" medium and you can still buy lots of oil paints today. And there is enough film camera gear out there for many generations of photographers.
