This may sound stupid, but it is possible to install the chain tensioner line into the wrong hole. The left side chain tensioner is just beneath and slightly hidden by another hole (don't know what it's for) but the banjo bolt screws right into it.
If I were a betting man I would say that you could have done that. Took me a while to discover my mistake a while back.
