Very similar systems but the Lexus system isn't as capable or robust. However, the rest of the vehicle is MUCH better than the Audi. Not infallable like some would suggest, but better than average.
The Lexus does use a timing belt and it is an interference motor. BUT it's nowhere near as expensive as the Audi 2.7T, typically running ~$500 at an independent and ~$1200 at a Lexus dealer. It's due at 90K miles, so it should have had a fresh replacement. If not, budget for it (and don't forget to replace water pump, tensioner, rollers, and cam seals while you're in there).
