Creed Taylor has also been criticized for homogenizing jazz for the commercial masses (e.g. Bob James, Wes Montgomery, George Benson, Grover Washington, etc.)
Not saying it's terrible. Some albums were brilliant, but many were on the easy listening side, again not necessarily bad. However, the music style these musicians were asked to play didn't explore the music they were capable of playing, but it brought jazz to the masses and that was a good thing to accomplish.
