Philly Car Show Last Night!

The private preview is called " Black Tie Tailgate" Benefit for Childrens Hospital Philadelphia. All the blue blood glitterati mingling with the GM sales types ...interesting. GM had the top of line vette supercharged Z01 or some such thing..136 K are you frickin kidding me??!!! The Porsche stand was very subdued small and literally wedged in between the Range Rovers and the Jags...which they were pushing heavily.. P had one GT3 RS, one 911 TWO Panameras, a cayman and one Cayenne ..thats it...maybe 2000 sq ft tops.

The factory stuff was very uneven. The Kia, Toyota, Acura offerings were so boring and amorphous its remarkable. I think I had Camry nightmares last night.. The Volt display was huge and staffed by midwestern cornfed car chicks who knew next to nothing about the car. The Sube STI was dissapointingly tinny and cheapy feeling. Is this really the successor of the famed WRX? I was roundly unimpressed. The new stuff from Volvo was quite nice ( If looking for teenager girl car like me).

Ths vintage stuff was nice but small . A few very nice specimens from the Simeone Collection...( nice museum in suburban Philly ...Like a Barnes Foundation for cars)

The 959 was awesome ( see my wife next to it) I had no idea these were sequential twin turbos. Note the Cobra period sponsor was some bail-bond company...so appropriate.
Very nice TR250...as long as these Brit cars are not moving they are collectable and nice to look at.

The show is worth a look

Enjoy Frank
