I've reached another impasse in the 356 project. I need to replace the original sound pad material under the car/above transaxle and around the engine. Most of it was either missing or seriously deteriorated. I ordered a kit from a place that sells 356 resto parts but the pieces do not even resemble the factory material and they are pre-cut but do not fit the places where they need to go.
At this point, I want to find some generic sound pad material and just cut it to fit but all I can find is Dynamat-type stuff that looks 100% wrong because it has writing all over it and has a cellophane finish, etc...
Haven't had any luck yet in a web search, anyone have suggestions? It need to look like this:
