I had thought about this a few years ago and was held back by personal obligations. I had talked to Cris Huergas about this briefly and I love the concept of the R Gruppe, but I like a little more involvement and structure. Cris has done a fabulous job on the club and his car, as with all of the cars in the group, are wonderful. I would also push for the 912 and 914 crowd as member involvement. Part of the problem on the East Coast, especially the Northeast, was that our climate patterns are not condusive to a year round club of this nature. Obviously, Atlanta going south has a longer club cycle because the weather is much better year round. California and the south eastern states are really the ideal venue for clubs of this nature!

I had already charted out the club and how it would be maintained with events, shop courses, race days, etc. I was building out a schedule for concours and restoration meetings at quality shops in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Boston. In all, I had about 100 responses showing genuine interest over the course of about two weeks.

I was also going to build out a website to include all of my factory documentation no longer being produced as a scanned in extra for members of the club. I have an extensive library of internal factory manuals from 1966 to 1973... primarily on "S", "R", and "RS" factory upgrades and tuning. I talked to Porsche about my documentation and they seemed to not care about me putting up on the site since they are no longer being published and there is no availablity.

This situation is still not out of the question for me to set up, but I was holding off until the wife and I moved out of Manhattan so we could meet at my home for tuneup sessions, etc.

I am open to all ideas moving forward. By the way, all would be welcome from the bone stock to the radical. 70flatsix, your car is one of my favorites and as with any early Porsche, it would welcome.
