re: bigger isnt always better.............................

well when the bad guy is behind a 8x8x16 block wall................well you will grasp my "7.62x 51 mantra!" trust me on this as we have done this ourselves testing rds.

as far as BIPODS............................

you have the very spendy USGI and you have the chinese copies. now mine is USGI and it was spendy. butt it will be a cold day in hell when i buy anything chinese associated with a M-14.

and as far as the norinco copies of the M-14.............well one popular gun mag after testing them and having a receiver blow up...........showed a picture of them in a TRASH CAN!

over 200 something machine ops on a M-14 receiver. and ya better get it right the 1st time.

but hey call me OCD.

also there is a influx(call it dumping) of chinese M-1 carbine/M-1 garand/ and M-14 parts tools cleaning kits on the market. so BE WARY and ONLY BUY FROM A REPUTABLE SOURCE!

on the smaller bipods go to SADLAK.com and talk to "DEE" there. she will get you hooked up on a harris bipod and all the parts to do it. there mount is 3X stronger than anyone elses. and bipods do get hammered alot.

another source for M-1 garand M-1 carbine, M-14 is billriccasurplus .com. bill ricca posts on the M-14 forums. he is a great guy and knows his poo backwards and forwards on these and all his stuff IS GENUINE USGI parts.

they are a METAL to METAL spoon. therefore proper heat grease(350 degrees F or better-shooters choice/tetra) all the way down to freezing(-50 degrres F) must be used along with yer fave lubricant. mines mil-comm or CLP for lube.
