Where is the best place to buy an intermediate exhaust pipe? (manifold to wastegate)
The droaning noise I'm getting on my '86 944 Turbo is apparently coming from the intermediate pipe between the exhaust manifold and wastegate. This is supposed to be a common problem with these systems (double walled pipes?). Where can I buy this part at the best price? The parts mgr. at the dealer says that the replacement pipes are designed to avoid this problem in the future. But his cost is: $1158 just for the part.
My mechanic is checking around.
I have the "breakout" schematic of the exhaust system. The part number is;
#951 111 096 15 I believe.
HAS ANYONE ELSE EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM? (Droaning noise after car reaches operating temperature, doesn't matter whether it's in or out of gear)
