With 188,000 miles on my 2001 5.4, I've changed the spark plugs 3 times with no problem. First time was at 100,000, 2nd was at about 150,000 and third was about 175,000. The car has a slight misfire I can feel at idle that I've been chasing. New plugs, COPS, ICV, fuel fitler, air filter, cleaning the MAP sensor, etc. hasn't fixed it yet. Might be part of the poor mpg or the high mileage?
Install them dry at 25 ft/lbs is the word on the F150 forums.
If you need COPS, check ebay. You can get them for $100 for all 8.
