A friend of mine blew a spark plug out of his very high mileage ford a few weeks ago. I installed a timesert type insert for him without too much difficulty. As long as you're very patient, use a lot of grease to hold the aluminum shavings, and clean and re-grease the tap often during the process it's very doable without getting crap in the combustion chamber.
