Got an 86' turbo. Took it to my garage to investigate what I thought was a crack in the manifold. Turned out to be a 3" crack in the cross-over pipe!. I had resigned myself to a large bill but the mechanic said that it could be welded. These guys are specialists and assured me that some specialist welding would fix it permenantly. Gave them the benefit of the doubt. The welding cost £40.00 ($65.00) This was great! Unfortunatly the removal and refitting including 'O' rings and new studs to the wastegate cost just under £300 ($425.00) Just got it back and the exhaust sounds sweet with no problems.

Check to see if yours pipe can be welded...

Regards
