what would I use instead? the procedure you put in post #7?

BTW - I am looking for the best way for a novice to DIY this - the cherry drawers & doors above were done by some local pros. I plan to do the other ones (in a downstairs kitchenette) in maple. I'm willing to take my time, so that is not a factor.

Also, I have the drawer fronts ready, but not the doors - at the rate I am going that could be a few more years...
