Funny thing about Buell... there's a Buell racebike that has been run in the AMA superbike series the last couple of years, most notably ridden by Geoff May. Funny thing though, it isn't really legal. It's sort of an evolution of a streetbike that didn't really get built in enough volume to qualify as a production bike. Nobody complains much anymore, as it doesn't really have a chance of winning a superbike race, although it has run in the top three or four for a few laps at a race or two.
Now he builds this new bike and, again, no street versions have been built. He has stated his intent to build a hundred of them and he's at the dealer show in Indiana this weekend, tying to drum up some support and, presumably, some cash.
This bike seems to be a cut above what he has built in the past. Losing the Harley motor was a step forward and deciding to use top-shelf components was another. It remains to be seen if there is a market for this bike, as it will not be cheap.
