Where I grew up (Monterey, CA) it was just like calling a white guy the "N" word...not a good thing...can you imagine white guys adopting the word as a "term of endearment" amongst one another like some of my fellow African American brethren have
? We would have blacks calling each other the "N" word and whites calling each other the "C" word, and getting mad when someone other than a white person used the word...
