I'm a lawyer and I would never go back to using a multi-function machine. Single purpose machines do a much better job at what they are designed to do. For a scanner, I highly recommend your client go with a Fujitsu Scansnap S1500 for scanning. As for copying and printing I would go with one of the Brother products. Consistent quality, ease or replacement of toner and drum, great prices. Forget about getting a fax machine. They are so 20th century. For my fax needs I use Extreme Fax
