Driving when you are extremely fatigued is akin to driving when you are drunk. You are a seriously impaired driver. Not sure how effective it will be to legislate or enforce, but it's definately a serious problem. Single car accidents, dry pavement, straight road? More often than not, fatigue is the issue.
I travel alot by car and keep a blanket with me. I often taken a 20 minute or so nap somewhere along the way, including when I'm driving the 911 (recline the seat on that car).
It takes me a little longer to get where I'm going, but I always get there.
