I never saw those either. I was on the high school rowing team a life time ago..or so it seems...1960. We had finely crafted wooden shells then from some company in Olympia, Washington, as I recall. They were very delicate...maybe 1/4" thick. Rowing is perhaps the most physically grueling sport I could imagine at the time. We raced only a mile...only? I think college is a lot longer. You are all out in those races, legs, arms, shoulders, belly, etc. Never been so exhausted but it sure gets you in shape ! Good for her !
